Adriaen van der Werff
Adriaen van der Werff was a Dutch painter born on January 21, 1659, in Kralingen, near Rotterdam, and he died on November 12, 1722, in Rotterdam. He was a prominent figure of the Baroque period, known for his meticulously detailed and polished style, which often depicted historical, biblical, and mythological subjects. Van der Werff trained under Eglon van der Neer and gained significant recognition for his work, eventually becoming the court painter for Johann Wilhelm, Elector Palatine, in Düsseldorf. His paintings were highly sought after during his lifetime, and he was celebrated for his ability to blend classical themes with the refined elegance characteristic of the late Baroque.
