Carl Gustav Carus was a German painter and physician, born in 1789 and passing in 1869. He was a prominent figure in the Romanticism movement, known for his landscapes and depictions of nature that emphasized emotional depth and spirituality. Carus was also a significant theorist, contributing to the understanding of color and light in art. He served as a professor at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts and was a close associate of the painter Caspar David Friedrich.
