Chen Chi-kwan (Chen Qikuan) was a Chinese artist born in 1921 in Beijing, China, and he passed away in 2007. He was a prominent figure in the modern Chinese art movement, known for his unique integration of traditional Chinese painting techniques with Western modernist styles. Chen studied architecture at National Central University in Chongqing and later pursued further studies at the University of Illinois, which influenced his artistic approach. His work often reflected a harmonious blend of Eastern and Western aesthetics, contributing significantly to the evolution of contemporary Chinese art. Chen also served as a professor at Tunghai University in Taiwan, where he influenced a generation of artists and architects. His legacy is marked by his innovative cross-cultural artistic expressions and his role in bridging Eastern and Western art traditions.
