Cho Kwang-kuk
Cho Kwang-kuk, a South Korean artist born in 1931 and deceased in 2010, was a prominent figure in the Dansaekhwa movement, which emerged in Korea during the 1970s. This movement, characterized by its monochromatic palette and meditative approach, sought to explore the materiality of painting and the process of creation itself. Cho's work is noted for its subtle textures and restrained color schemes, reflecting a deep engagement with the philosophical underpinnings of Dansaekhwa. Throughout his career, Cho participated in numerous exhibitions both domestically and internationally, contributing significantly to the global recognition of Korean contemporary art.
