Cornelis Visscher

Cornelis Visscher was a Dutch artist born in 1629 in Haarlem, Netherlands, and he became a prominent figure in the Baroque art movement. Visscher was renowned for his exceptional skills as a draughtsman and engraver, producing works that were highly detailed and expressive. His engravings often depicted religious themes, portraits, and genre scenes, contributing significantly to the dissemination of Baroque aesthetics in the Netherlands. Visscher's work was influential in his time, and he was part of a family of artists, including his brothers Jan and Lambert Visscher, who were also engravers. Despite his promising career, Cornelis Visscher's life was tragically short, as he passed away in 1658 at the age of 29.
