Domenico Ghirlandaio, born Domenico Bigordi in Italy in 1449, was a prominent painter of the Italian Renaissance. He is best known for his frescoes and altarpieces, which often featured detailed depictions of contemporary Florentine life and religious themes. Ghirlandaio's workshop trained several notable artists, including Michelangelo, contributing significantly to the development of Renaissance art. His major works include the frescoes in the Tornabuoni Chapel in Florence and the altarpiece for the Church of Santa Trinita. Ghirlandaio passed away in 1494, leaving a lasting legacy in the art world through his innovative techniques and influence on future generations of artists.
