Biography:

Dong Bangda (1699–1769) was a Chinese painter and calligrapher during the Qing Dynasty. He was associated with the Orthodox School of Chinese painting, which emphasized traditional techniques and themes. Dong was known for his landscape paintings, which often depicted serene natural scenes, reflecting the influence of earlier masters such as Dong Qichang. He served as an official in the imperial court, which allowed him to contribute to the preservation and promotion of classical Chinese art and culture. His work played a significant role in maintaining the continuity of traditional Chinese artistic practices during a period of significant cultural change.
