Biography:

Edmond-François Aman-Jean was a French painter born in 1858 and active until his death in 1936. He was associated with the Symbolism movement, which sought to express the emotional and spiritual through symbolic imagery. Aman-Jean is known for his portraits and allegorical works that often feature dreamlike and mystical themes. He was a member of the Société des Artistes Français and exhibited regularly at the Salon. His contributions to the Symbolist movement helped to shape the visual language of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Specific details about his early life and training remain largely unknown.
