Fong Chung-Ray (Feng zhongrui) 馮鍾睿
Fong Chung-Ray, also known as Feng Zhongrui, was born in 1933 in Henan, China, and is a prominent figure in the modern Chinese art movement. He is a Chinese-American artist who became a significant member of the Fifth Moon Group, an influential collective that sought to integrate traditional Chinese painting techniques with Western abstract art. Fong's work is characterized by its innovative use of mixed media and abstract forms, reflecting a synthesis of Eastern and Western artistic traditions. In 1975, he emigrated to the United States, where he continued to develop his unique style and contribute to the global discourse on contemporary art. His contributions have been instrumental in expanding the boundaries of Chinese modern art, earning him recognition in both Eastern and Western art circles. Fong's work has been exhibited internationally, underscoring his impact on the evolution of abstract art.
