Fra Angelico
Fra Angelico, born Guido di Pietro around 1395 in Vicchio, Italy, was a prominent Italian painter of the Early Renaissance. He became a Dominican friar and was known for his devout religious life, which deeply influenced his art. Fra Angelico's work is characterized by its serene religious themes, use of vibrant color, and pioneering techniques in perspective, contributing significantly to the development of Renaissance art. His most notable works include the frescoes in the Convent of San Marco in Florence and the altarpiece for the Church of San Domenico in Fiesole. He was recognized for his piety and artistic skill, earning him the posthumous title "Beato" (Blessed) by the Catholic Church. Fra Angelico passed away in 1455 in Rome, leaving a lasting legacy on religious art and the Renaissance movement.
