Francis Davis Millet
Francis Davis Millet was an American artist born on November 3, 1846, in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts, and he perished in the sinking of the RMS Titanic on April 15, 1912. Millet was associated with the American Renaissance movement, which sought to revive classical art forms and integrate them into American culture. He was a versatile artist, known for his work as a painter, sculptor, and muralist, and he played a significant role in the decoration of the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893. Millet's contributions extended beyond his artistic endeavors; he was also a war correspondent and served as a trustee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
