Frank Duveneck was an American painter born in 1848 and active until his death in 1919. He was a prominent figure in the Realism movement, known for his portraiture and genre scenes that captured the essence of everyday life. Duveneck studied in Europe, particularly in Munich, where he was influenced by the German school of painting. He played a significant role in the development of American art in the late 19th century and was a founding member of the Cincinnati Art Club.
