Georg Kolbe
Georg Kolbe was a prominent German sculptor born on April 15, 1877, in Waldheim, Saxony, and he passed away on November 20, 1947, in Berlin. He is best known for his contributions to the Expressionist movement, where he distinguished himself through his dynamic and emotive representations of the human form. Kolbe initially trained as a painter before turning to sculpture, where he found his true calling. His work was characterized by a focus on the human body, often capturing movement and emotion with a modernist sensibility. Among his most notable works is the sculpture "Die Tänzerin" (The Dancer), which exemplifies his ability to convey fluidity and grace. Throughout his career, Kolbe's sculptures were widely exhibited and he became one of the leading figures in German sculpture during the early 20th century.
