Giovanni Andrea Donducci, known as Mastelletta, was an Italian painter born in 1575 in Bologna and died in 1655. He was a prominent figure in the Baroque movement, contributing significantly to the Bolognese School of painting. Mastelletta was a pupil of Ludovico Carracci, whose influence is evident in his dynamic compositions and dramatic use of light and shadow. His works often depicted religious themes, characterized by their emotional intensity and vivid color palette. Despite being overshadowed by his more famous contemporaries, Mastelletta's paintings are noted for their unique blend of realism and expressive detail, securing his place in the history of Italian Baroque art.
