Biography:
Giuseppe Zais was an Italian painter born in 1709 in Forno di Canale, now known as Canale d'Agordo, and he died in 1784. He was a prominent figure in the Rococo movement, known for his pastoral landscapes that often depicted idyllic rural scenes. Zais was influenced by the works of Marco Ricci and Francesco Zuccarelli, and he became a member of the Venetian Academy in 1774. His work contributed to the popularity of landscape painting in 18th-century Venice, and he was known for his delicate brushwork and use of light. Despite his initial success, Zais's later years were marked by financial difficulties, and he died in relative obscurity. His paintings, however, continue to be appreciated for their charm and technical skill.
