Hans Hofmann
Hans Hofmann was a German-born artist, born in 1880, who became a pivotal figure in the Abstract Expressionist movement. After studying in Paris, where he was influenced by the avant-garde, Hofmann emigrated to the United States in 1932. He established the Hans Hofmann School of Fine Arts in New York and Provincetown, which became influential in shaping the development of American modern art.
