Hans von Aachen
Hans von Aachen was a German painter born in Cologne in 1552 and died in Prague in 1615. He was a prominent figure of the late Mannerist movement, known for his sophisticated and elegant style that combined elements of Italian and Northern European art. Von Aachen spent a significant period in Italy, where he absorbed the influences of Venetian and Roman art, before returning to Germany and eventually settling in Prague. He became a court painter to Emperor Rudolf II, contributing to the flourishing of the Prague School and influencing the development of Central European art.
