Jacobello di Antonello
Jacobello di Antonello was an Italian painter active during the late 15th and early 16th centuries, with his life dates traditionally recorded as circa 1456 to 1494. He was part of the Renaissance movement, contributing to the transition from Gothic to Renaissance art in Italy. Jacobello was the son of Antonello da Messina, a pivotal figure in the introduction of oil painting techniques to Italy, which significantly influenced Jacobello's own work. Although less renowned than his father, Jacobello's paintings reflect the integration of Northern European techniques with Italian artistic traditions. His works are noted for their detailed execution and the use of light, which were hallmarks of the Renaissance style. Jacobello's contributions helped to perpetuate the stylistic innovations introduced by his father, thereby impacting the development of Italian Renaissance art.
