Provoost was part of the Bruges school and was influenced by the works of Hans Memling and Gerard David. His career was marked by his membership in the Bruges Guild of Saint Luke, which he joined in 1494, and his participation in the Mechelen painters' guild. Provoost's work is characterized by its detailed landscapes and expressive figures, contributing significantly to the development of early Netherlandish painting. His notable works include "The Last Judgment" and "The Virgin and Child with Saints."
