Jan Saenredam

Jan Saenredam, born in 1565 in the Netherlands, was a prominent figure of the Northern Renaissance, known for his work as an engraver and cartographer. He was a pupil of the renowned artist Hendrick Goltzius, under whom he honed his skills in engraving, a medium through which he achieved significant acclaim. Saenredam's engravings are noted for their intricate detail and clarity, contributing to the dissemination of Renaissance art and ideas in Northern Europe. His works often depicted biblical and mythological themes, reflecting the intellectual currents of his time.
