Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot was a French painter born on July 16, 1796, in Paris, and he passed away on February 22, 1875. Corot is primarily associated with the Realism movement, although his work also anticipated the Impressionist movement. He is renowned for his landscape paintings, which often depicted the natural scenery of France and Italy with a poetic sensibility. Corot's early training included studies at the Académie Suisse and travels to Italy, where he was influenced by the classical landscapes of the Italian masters. Throughout his career, he achieved significant acclaim and influenced a generation of artists, including the Barbizon School and the Impressionists.
