Joseph Rodefer DeCamp
Joseph Rodefer DeCamp was an American painter born on November 5, 1858, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and he passed away on February 11, 1923, in Boca Grande, Florida. He was a prominent member of the Boston School, a group known for its blend of Impressionism and academic realism. DeCamp studied under Frank Duveneck and later in Munich, which significantly influenced his artistic development. He is renowned for his portraits and genre scenes, characterized by their refined technique and subtle use of light. A devastating studio fire in 1904 destroyed much of his early work, yet he continued to produce significant pieces, contributing to the American art scene of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
