Jusepe de Ribera
Jusepe de Ribera, also known as José de Ribera, was a Spanish painter born in 1591 in Xàtiva, Spain, and he died in 1652 in Naples, Italy. Ribera was a prominent figure of the Baroque movement, known for his dramatic use of chiaroscuro and realistic depictions of religious and mythological subjects. He spent much of his career in Italy, where he became a leading artist in Naples and was heavily influenced by Caravaggio's tenebrism. Ribera's work had a significant impact on the development of Baroque art in both Spain and Italy, and he was instrumental in the spread of Caravaggism.
