Lan Ying (1585–1664) was a prominent Chinese painter of the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. He was born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, and became a leading figure in the Zhe School of painting, which was known for its expressive brushwork and landscape depictions. Lan Ying's work is characterized by a synthesis of traditional techniques with innovative approaches, contributing significantly to the transition between Ming and Qing artistic styles. Throughout his career, he was highly regarded for his ability to blend the influences of earlier masters such as Huang Gongwang and Wu Zhen, while also developing a distinctive personal style.
