Liu Kuo Sung, also known as Liu Guosong, was a Chinese artist born on April 26, 1932, in Anhui, China. He is a prominent figure in the modern Chinese art movement, particularly known for his role in the development of modern ink painting. Liu emigrated to Taiwan in 1949, where he became a founding member of the Fifth Moon Group, which sought to innovate traditional Chinese painting techniques by incorporating Western artistic influences. His work is characterized by a unique synthesis of traditional Chinese ink methods and contemporary abstraction, which has significantly influenced the evolution of modern Chinese art. Liu's contributions have been recognized internationally, and he has held numerous exhibitions worldwide, establishing him as a pivotal figure in bridging Eastern and Western art traditions.
