Biography:

Louise Joséphine Sarazin de Belmont (1790–1870) was a French landscape painter associated with the Romantic movement. Born in Versailles, she was a pupil of the renowned artist Pierre-Henri de Valenciennes, which significantly influenced her development as a landscape artist. Sarazin de Belmont traveled extensively throughout Italy, capturing the picturesque vistas and ruins that became central themes in her work. Her paintings were exhibited at the Paris Salon from 1812 to 1859, where she gained recognition for her ability to convey atmospheric effects and the sublime beauty of nature. Despite the challenges faced by women artists of her time, she achieved considerable success and contributed to the visibility of female artists in the 19th century. Her works are noted for their meticulous detail and evocative portrayal of the natural world.
