Luca Carlevaris (1665–1730) was an Italian painter and etcher associated with the Baroque movement. He is best known for his detailed views of Venice, which capture the city's architecture and vibrant life. Carlevaris played a significant role in the development of vedute, a genre of landscape painting that focuses on cityscapes. His work influenced later artists, including Canaletto, and contributed to the popularity of Venetian scenes in the 18th century. Little is known about his early life, but he was active in Venice, where he produced both paintings and prints. Carlevaris's legacy endures through his meticulous depictions of the Venetian landscape.
