Mihály Munkácsy was a Hungarian painter born on February 20, 1844, and he passed away on May 1, 1900. He is best known for his association with the Realism movement, which he adeptly employed to depict scenes of everyday life and historical events. Munkácsy gained international acclaim with his painting "The Last Day of a Condemned Man," which won the Gold Medal at the Paris Salon in 1870.
