Nagasawa Rosetsu 長沢蘆雪

Nagasawa Rosetsu (長沢蘆雪) was a Japanese painter born in 1754 and died in 1799. He was a prominent figure in the Edo period and is associated with the Maruyama-Shijō school, which emphasized naturalism and a blend of traditional Japanese and Western techniques. Rosetsu was a student of Maruyama Ōkyo, under whose tutelage he developed a distinctive style characterized by bold compositions and dynamic brushwork.
