Niles Spencer was an American painter born in 1881, whose work is closely associated with the Precisionist movement. He studied at the Rhode Island School of Design and later at the New York School of Art, where he was influenced by the modernist trends of the early 20th century. Spencer's paintings are characterized by their geometric forms and a focus on industrial and architectural subjects, reflecting the burgeoning urban landscape of America. His work contributed to the development of American modernism by capturing the essence of industrialization with clarity and precision. Throughout his career, Spencer exhibited widely, including at the Whitney Museum of American Art, solidifying his place in the canon of American art.
