Paul Sébillot (1843–1918) was a French folklorist and writer known for his significant contributions to the documentation and preservation of Breton folklore. Born in Matignon, France, Sébillot initially pursued a career in painting, studying at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris, before dedicating himself to the study of folklore. He became a prominent figure in the folklore movement, collecting and publishing numerous tales, legends, and traditions from Brittany, thereby playing a crucial role in the cultural preservation of the region.
