Biography:

Philips Wouwerman was a Dutch painter born in Haarlem in 1619 and died in 1668. He was a prominent figure of the Dutch Golden Age, known for his dynamic landscapes and equestrian scenes. Wouwerman's work is characterized by its meticulous detail and lively compositions, often depicting hunting parties, military encounters, and rural life. He was a prolific artist, producing over 800 paintings, which were highly sought after during his lifetime and continue to be valued for their technical skill and narrative quality. Wouwerman was a member of the Haarlem Guild of St. Luke, and his influence extended to many artists who admired his ability to capture movement and atmosphere.
