Pieter de Hooch was a Dutch painter born in the Netherlands in 1629 and active during the Baroque period. He is renowned for his masterful depictions of domestic interiors and the use of light and perspective to create a sense of space. De Hooch's work often features figures engaged in everyday activities, reflecting the social life of the Dutch middle class. He was associated with the city of Delft, where he was influenced by contemporaries such as Johannes Vermeer. De Hooch's contributions to genre painting have had a lasting impact on the art world, although details of his early life and training remain largely unknown. He passed away in 1684.
