Pieter Jansz Quast

Pieter Jansz Quast was a Dutch painter and draughtsman born in 1606 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He was an active participant in the Baroque movement, known for his genre scenes, satirical works, and portraits. Quast's oeuvre is characterized by its vivid depiction of everyday life, often infused with a sense of humor and social commentary. Throughout his career, he worked in both Amsterdam and The Hague, where he became a member of the Guild of Saint Luke in 1634. Despite his relatively short life, Quast's work contributed to the rich tapestry of Dutch Baroque art, offering insight into the social dynamics of his time.
