Rachel Ruysch was a Dutch painter born in the Netherlands in 1664 and active until her death in 1750. She is renowned for her exquisite still-life paintings, particularly those featuring flowers, and is considered one of the leading female artists of the Baroque period. Ruysch gained significant recognition during her lifetime, becoming a member of the Guild of Saint Luke in Amsterdam and receiving commissions from prominent patrons. Her work is characterized by meticulous detail and a vibrant use of color, which contributed to the popularity of floral still lifes in the 17th and 18th centuries.
