Sarah Miriam Peale (1800–1885) was an American portrait painter, recognized as one of the first women in the United States to achieve professional success in this field.

Born into the prominent Peale family of artists in Philadelphia, she was part of the American portraiture movement in the 19th century. Her work is noted for its meticulous attention to detail and the lifelike quality of her subjects, which included prominent political and military figures of her time.

Peale's career was marked by her exhibitions at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and her role as a founding member of the Baltimore-based Artists' Association. Her legacy is significant for paving the way for future generations of female artists in a predominantly male-dominated profession.
