Thomas de Keyser was a Dutch painter born in the Netherlands in 1596 and active until his death in 1641. He was a prominent figure in the Baroque art movement, known for his portraiture and genre scenes that captured the essence of 17th-century Dutch society. De Keyser was a member of the Amsterdam Guild of Saint Luke and served as its dean in 1632. His work is characterized by a keen attention to detail and a sophisticated use of light and shadow, contributing to the development of Dutch portrait painting. Despite his significant contributions, much of his life remains undocumented, and specific details about his early career are unknown.
