Thomas Satterwhite Noble
Thomas Satterwhite Noble was an American artist born on May 29, 1835, in Lexington, Kentucky, and he passed away on April 27, 1907, in New York City. Noble was associated with the Realism movement, and his work often addressed themes of slavery and the American Civil War, reflecting his Southern heritage and the tumultuous period in which he lived. He studied at the National Academy of Design in New York and later in Paris under the tutelage of Thomas Couture, which significantly influenced his artistic development.
