Willem Drost was a Dutch painter born in the Netherlands in 1633 and active during the Baroque period. He is known for his portraits and historical scenes, which reflect the influence of his mentor, Rembrandt. Drost's career was relatively short, as he died at the young age of 26 in 1659. Despite his brief life, he made a notable impact on the art of his time, with works that demonstrate a mastery of light and shadow.
