William Rimmer
William Rimmer was an American artist born on February 20, 1816, in Liverpool, England, and he passed away on August 20, 1879, in South Milford, Massachusetts. Rimmer is often associated with the Romantic art movement, and his work is noted for its imaginative and often mythological themes. He was a self-taught artist who also practiced medicine, which influenced his anatomical precision in art. Rimmer's most renowned work, "Evening: Fall of Day," exemplifies his unique blend of classical and romantic elements. His teaching at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School and his book "Elements of Design" contributed significantly to American art education. Despite his limited commercial success during his lifetime, Rimmer's work has been recognized posthumously for its originality and emotional depth.
