Agnes Martin was a Canadian-born artist, born on March 22, 1912, in Macklin, Saskatchewan, and she passed away on December 16, 2004, in Taos, New Mexico. She is widely recognized as a significant figure in the Minimalist art movement, although she often distanced herself from such categorizations, emphasizing the spiritual and emotional underpinnings of her work. Martin's oeuvre is characterized by subtle grid patterns and a restrained palette, which convey a sense of tranquility and introspection. After moving to the United States in 1931, she studied at Teachers College, Columbia University, and later became associated with the burgeoning art scene in New York City during the 1950s and 1960s. Martin's work has had a profound influence
