Hubert Robert was a French painter born in 1733 and active until his death in 1808. He was a prominent figure in the Rococo movement, known for his picturesque landscapes and imaginative ruins. Robert gained recognition for his ability to blend natural scenery with architectural elements, often depicting idealized visions of classical antiquity. He served as a member of the Académie Royale de Peinture et de Sculpture and was appointed as the official painter to King Louis XVI.
