Jan Cornelisz Vermeyen was a Dutch painter born in the Netherlands in 1500 and active until his death in 1559. He was a prominent figure in the Renaissance art movement, known for his detailed and vibrant works that often depicted historical and religious themes. Vermeyen is particularly recognized for his role as a court painter for the Habsburgs, which allowed him to create significant portraits and altarpieces.
