Natalia Goncharova
Natalia Goncharova (1881–1962) was a Russian avant-garde artist and a prominent figure in the Futurist movement. Born in Tula, Russia, she initially studied sculpture at the Moscow School of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture before turning to painting. Goncharova's work was characterized by its bold use of color and incorporation of Russian folk art motifs, which she combined with the dynamic forms of Futurism. In 1913, she co-founded the influential art group "Jack of Diamonds" and later exhibited with the Der Blaue Reiter group in Munich. Her impact extended beyond painting, as she also designed sets and costumes for Sergei Diaghilev's Ballets Russes, contributing significantly to the development of modernist stage design. Goncharova spent her later years in Paris, where she continued to work until her death in 1962.
