Biography:

Rose Adélaïde Ducreux (1761–1802) was a French painter associated with the Rococo movement. She is known for her portraits that often featured a playful and intimate style, reflecting the sensibilities of her time. Ducreux was a student of her father, the painter Jean-Baptiste Ducreux, and gained recognition for her ability to capture the personality and charm of her subjects. Despite her talent, her work was largely overshadowed by her male contemporaries, and much of her life remains undocumented. Her contributions to portraiture in the late 18th century highlight the role of women artists in a predominantly male-dominated field. Ducreux's legacy continues to be reevaluated as interest in female artists of the Rococo period grows.
